For over 45 years, St. Mary’s Richard Tufenkian Preschool & Kindergarten has continuously provided a high quality, early childhood education program, with an emphasis on Armenian language, culture, and heritage to children and families in our community.

Since 1975, the committed and dedicated teachers, administration and staff, have given their all in offering a rich curriculum in all learning domains, including but not limited to social-emotional, language arts (Armenian and English), cognitive, and physical development. Through a combination of hands-on, child-initiated and teacher directed small and large group activities, children are able to thrive as they learn, grow and develop.

The school has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 1999. Under the leadership of Mrs. Arsine Aghazarian, the school’s previous director, and with the collaboration and hard work of the teachers, staff, administration and parents, the school achieved its 5th consecutive NAEYC re-accreditation during the 2021-2022 program year!

As an alumni of Tufenkian Preschool & Kindergarten myself, I am honored to be given the opportunity to continue the hard work of the past leaders of the school who have paved the path toward striving for excellence and future academic success for children.

As we begin the 2022-2023 program year, I welcome you to take a virtual tour of our program by browsing through our school history, philosophy, mission and curriculum. I look forward to building connections and collaborating with you – our parents, prospective parents, community members and supporters of our beloved school.

Sincerely,
Lorette Avanessian
Director
